AFC Beacon 1 – 3 Booker Athletic

These two old division 1 rivals locked heads in what promised to be a action packed physical game in the cup with AFC Beacon starting the better side even though they had a few key players missing should have been a goal up with there pacey forward having a few chances but coming to no avail…. Suddenly Courtney Sowe picked the ball up from just inside AFC Beacon half and took a shot from 20-25 yards and it swerved and caught the AFC Beacon keeper out sort of against the run of play, then just before half time Booker got another through Jason Mendez. HT – Both teams started the second half well but AFC Beacon yet again having most of the possession but failing to convert there chances if they could have finished it would have been no contest!! Then 14 mins before full time AFC Beacon Player James Reid scores a great header from a corner to make it 1-2 To Booker with a tense last few mins and they looked odds on getting an equaliser when Stephen Dodd hit the ball out to the left flank where Jason Mendez controlled and hit it first time to catch the AFC Beacon keeper off guard twice and added his second with a superb finish and with 8 mins to go Booker had to soak up constant pressure from AFC Beacon to see the remainder of the game out for a undeserved 3-1 victory AFC Beacon have a good side & will surely be contending for the Premier Division Title…..
